Q. How well does the Culinary Arts Division at Institute of Technology prepare its graduates?
A. The culinary programs at Institute of Technology are unique. Graduates complete a set of rigorous courses designed to hone their natural skills. Upon completion, each student begins a five-week externship where they apply their professional training. The externship is performed at an Institute of Technology-approved venue and enables the student to sharpen their culinary skills prior to graduation.

A. Our students extern just about everywhere. Due to our excellent reputation among culinary professionals, our students complete their externships at several unique sites, including:

Q. What kind of career opportunities can I expect when I graduate?
A. Our culinary arts students are in demand. Institute of Technology's culinary alumni can be found working in the most prestigious restaurants, hotels and corporations in California and across the country.
Q. What positions did your instructors hold before teaching at your institution?
A. Unlike other culinary schools in the area that just hire cooks to teach students, Institute of Technology's Culinary Arts Division chef instructors come from programs and countries spanning the globe. All faculty have years of hands-on experience in the field, as well as formal culinary training.
Q. What is the student-to-faculty ratio in the culinary school?
A. Institute of Technology goes the extra step to ensure a quality culinary experience, so we attempt to limit our enrollment and maintain a 15 students to 1 instructor ratio in our classes.
Q. Does Institute of Technology offer financial aid?
A. Yes. We are accredited to provide state and federal funds, such as Pell Grants. In addition, we also offer institution merit-based grants. We want you to achieve your goals. Feel free to speak with one of our professional financial aid officers.

Q. Who is your typical student?
A. We speak with hundreds of prospective students each month. We enroll students from all backgrounds and parts of the country. A typical student is passionate about food and cooking, mature, and focused. Generally, students fall into three categories: individuals already pursuing a career in the hospitality industry who seek to improve their advancement opportunities, people who are changing their professional direction, and students beginning their first career.

A. All culinary careers develop over time. The pay scale varies from job to job and region to region, depending on your skills, experience and dedication. We will work closely with you to assist you in finding the right job with the best salary as possible.
